  • KPIT Sparkle - A Student Innovation Platform

    Background

The project was initiated by a company looking to transform the traditional paper-based system for submitting and evaluating student projects across India and selected other countries. The previous system was plagued by significant delays due to manual handling, communication gaps, and a complete lack of digital notification systems such as email and SMS updates. The goal was to develop a digital platform that not only streamlined submissions and evaluations but also incorporated real-time communication tools to improve efficiency and user engagement.

To address these challenges, the following solutions were implemented:

    1. Digital Platform Development: Created a cloud-based solution with a scalable architecture to ensure reliable access and performance.
    2. Automated Notifications: Integrated SMS and email notification systems to keep students and evaluators updated on project statuses.
    3. Real-Time Communication: Introduced a chatbot and a live chat system, enabling direct and instant communication between students and evaluators.
    4. User-Friendly Design: Developed an intuitive user interface, ensuring ease of use and accessibility on various devices including mobile phones.
    5. Secure Data Management: Applied robust encryption practices for data security and conducted thorough data migration from the old paper-based records to the new digital system.

The implementation of the digital project submission and evaluation platform achieved several notable outcomes:

    1. Efficiency Improvement: The project cycle time was significantly reduced, with faster submission, evaluation, and feedback processes.
    2. Enhanced User Satisfaction: Both students and evaluators reported higher satisfaction due to ease of use, faster communications, and better accessibility of the platform.
    3. Increased Submission Rates: The easier and more accessible platform encouraged a higher number of submissions.
    4. Better Data Management: Centralized digital data storage allowed for better data integrity, security, and easier access to historical records.
    5. Operational Transparency: Real-time tracking of project status and clear, open lines of communication enhanced transparency throughout the evaluation process.
